Two Seasons

Freshman Year, his team reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament. We took a Thanksgiving trip to Hawaii every year. My first time on the trip, I teamed up with another freshman to defeat the University of Hawaii at the #3 doubles position.

Nico graduated from Stanford University, where he studied political science and played varsity tennis. He later graduated from Stanford Law School, and today is a practicing lawyer. Nico lives in Chicago with his family.

Nico Martinez was the Jeopardy! College Championship show winner in the fall of 2005.

Winning basketball districts on Oakland Christian’s home floor and celebrating with teammates and coaches afterwards.

Advice for Future Roughriders
Embrace the underdog mentality. Don’t be afraid of failure, but learn from it. And have fun.
