Betsy Enriquez Cotton

University of Rochester
Graduation Year: 2001

Post College: After graduating from the University of Rochester, Betsy moved to Washington, DC, where she served for a year as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Washington, DC. She then went on to work for the organization as a fundraiser – and has stayed in the field ever since. After 7 years in DC, and 3 years in New York (fundraising for the Guggenheim Museum), Betsy moved to Dallas, Texas where she now lives with her husband, Alex, and two kids, Flossie and Ziggy. She has a fulfilling job as the Head of Institutional Partnerships at Teach For All where she works from a remote home office and travels frequently – both internationally and domestically. Betsy still visits Michigan once a year every summer with her family – spending quality time Up North to escape the Texas heat.

Advice for Future Roughriders: Trust your gut as you pursue your post high school options – if you get a bad feeling while visiting a college campus, then maybe the school isn’t right for you. Also, if you aim to do athletics in college, be sure to visit the school and stay with team members on your visit. You’ll learn a lot about the culture of the team and how they integrate within the school.

Favorite College Memory: The athletic conference (UAA) that U of R is a part of meant that we traveled a lot – to Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, etc. That was really fun!
